¨Laïka Fatien

is a singer with an unusual capacity for interpretation. Her voice is elegant, sensual and deep and with it she pays her personal tribute to Billie Holiday representing his album Misery.

Laïka Fatien, includes songs by Wayne Shorter, Joe Hendersn or Nicholas Payton in her repertoire, sings songs which were born from a meeting she had with the Director of Theatre Philippe Adrien, who proposed her to set Billies' existence in scene, although with some original changes.

Far away from the misery of a woman marked by loneliness and drugs, Laïka Fatien was since she was young fascinated by the texts Billie interpreted. You must only hear her when she sings Strange Fruit (a call against the sad lynch law of negros in the USA), Don't Explain or Misery, giving these songs her voice, to understand until which point the french singer has made the histories of melodies of the 40th to her own ones.

When the classics of Jazz are in again, Laïka does it in her own way, giving her personal note to the songs she choices like Lover come back to me, You can't loose a broken heart or How deep is the ocean to mention only e few examples and which appears new coming when she sings them.
